ALO7 tutors are independent contractors, and therefore, are responsible for their own taxes. ALO7 does not deduct any taxes from the tutor’s monthly payment. For American citizens, all income of more than USD $600 per year is reported directly to the US IRS via IRS Form 1099. Filling the tax forms and reporting online tutoring income is your own responsibility.
You might be able to write off some of the expenses from working from home. However, this is a question for your tax accountant. ALO7 does not provide any tax advice.
For Non-US tax payers, you need to fill out Form W-8BEN. The Form W-8BEN is a form used to confirm you’re NOT a U.S. taxpayer and that we are not required to withhold taxes from your earnings. For record-keeping purposes, We require a Form W-8BEN for all non-U.S. taxpayers.

If ALO7 is a Chinese company why are they required to fill out the W-8. I never heard of any other Cinese company doing do. What do they do with the forms?
